To blog, or not to blog, that is the question

Not sure whether I feel like blogging today or not, but here goes anyway. I want to share a couple of finishes, but just don't feel like saying much.

So let me introduce you to Cedric ......

Cedric
(I made up the design myself, but he's based on photos I've seen around the 'net. He'll be going to one of my nephews for Christmas.)

....... and Celebi!

Celebi

I'm a real softie when it comes to my kids - I said I was making Celebi for Alexander's Christmas or birthday (in 2 weeks), but when he came home from being away on a school trip for a week, and asked (not expecting a positive answer) whether I'd made Celebi yet, I couldn't lie! But I'm grateful to Alexander for helping motivate me to finish him - I was finding all the small fiddly bits rather frustrating.

Celebi's very cute and Alexander is very pleased with him. Celebi has even inspired Alexander to a bit of crafting himself as he had to make Celebi a sleeping bag for his bed!

Celebi is based on this pattern, although I went my own way a bit with some bits, like the feet and wings, and I kept changing between a 3mm and 2.5mm crochet hook.

Since I finished these two, I've been sewing up my monkey, I've started crocheting something for Niamh's Christmas, and I've been having a bit of fun (and yes, I do mean fun!) with a spot of Russian translation!

As for not blogging much, I'm starting to feel like depression probably plays a much bigger part in my life than I realised, and when I feel depressed, I know I turn in on myself  and avoid sharing things with other people, so hence I don't blog either.

And on another frustrating topic - I still can't comment on Blogger blogs!

They're both so cute! I love the tufts around Cedric's head - normally, I'm not one for novelty yarn, but when I see something like that, I think it's perfect :)

I know what you mean about depression and blogging. This year, I'm taking part in NaBloPoMo which is making me post every day, and I think it's doing me good. It's hard to compose words when you don't feel like doing anything, so having the commitment do post *something* has kept the words flowing, even when it's hard.

It sounds like you've got lots on the go right now - judging by these, they're going to be awesome projects :)

Celebi is just too cute for words!

As for depression ... I've been battling it for my entire adult life and know that, however hard it is, staying connected to the outside world is the most important part of not letting "it" get the upper hand. A lot of times, I'm just going through the motions of being part of the world around me, but if I keep it up, eventually I find my way back and can enjoy something like normality for awhile before it all starts up again. Anytime you want to talk, I'm here. Take care of yourself. (((hugs))))

Both adorable, but I especially love Celebi! You've finished him so neatly. If you can't comment on blogger blogs, it may be a preference set to block pop-up windows.

They are both very cute, I bet your kids love them. I know what you mean about the depression bit but I do find when I am coming out the other side that a rant on my blog can pick me up a bit. I find I haven't got the energy or effort when bad but once you are on the way up and you share a bit it helps clear some of those thoughts out of your head. It also helps when there are others out there to read and reply. makes you realise that you aren't alone and there are people out there that understand!

Is Cedric as large as he appears? He is super cute and if he is as big as I think, I am ultra impressed by your work! (Not to say I am not impressed by it if it if he is small - just that it takes that extra commitment to make something so large!)

That sucks about not being able to comment - I often have that problem with Blogger blogs too. I hope that clears up so you can feel more connected with other people, and hopefully, less depressed.

I am always impressed with those that crochet, mine always looks like an amoeba. They are so cute.

Regards depression, DH has been dealing with it too, no fun. We found distraction, companionship and medical support were the way out. If you are having trouble speak to your doctor, no one will think less of you if you need help through these periods.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to hold hands in the dark :0)

Well this is my first visit. Great stuff over the blog. Illustration has something special and I think we can't avoid this kind of initiative.
